Can I give treats to my pet?

Treats:
There are many excellent treats available today that are safe and nutritional for your pet. Remember though, any treat will add calories to your pet's daily intake so other rations may need to be reduced or exercise increased to compensate. Even though low calorie treats are available, this isn't a carte blanche to over-feed your pet.

Treat Guidelines:

  • Don't feed table scraps as this can unbalance a pet's diet, add extra calories,     and possibly induce gastroenteritis (vomiting and diarhea) caused by food     sensitivities.
  • Treats should not make up more than 10% of your pet's diet
  • Use a few dry pet food kibbles as a treat
  • Ice chips make a good calorie-free treat
