Blood Sample Evaluations
After a complete physical examination, a blood sample is taken and
evaluated either in the clinic or at an outside lab.
Two different blood sample evaluations are performed:
- Complete blood cell count (CBC):
Evaluates Red Blood Cells (RBC) to check for anemia, White Blood
Cells (WBC) to check for infections and platelet count to check
for adequate clotting of blood.
- Serum Chemistry Profile:
Measures the enzymes in the blood to determine the health of the patient’s liver and kidneys.
These organs are important indicators of a patient’s ability
to recover from anesthesia and surgery.
